top five: the movies I never get sick of edition

Friday, June 25th, 2010

It’s about that time for another Top Five. The first time around I shared my top five babes. Now we have movies that I will never ever get sick of.

Are they Oscar worthy? Probably not.

(They totally are in my head)

Are they absolutely fantastic? YES.

Almost Famous. This is my favorite movie OF ALL TIME. Forever.

Clueless. DUH. I shouldn’t even have to say more.

Mean Girls. If you know even the slightest about me, you’re not surprised with this one. I can quote it in and out and back and forth. It’s sad slash completely AWESOME.

Some Like It Hot. I saw this for the first time in my high school film class and fell in love with it. It’s hilarious.

The Devil Wears Prada. I own this movie on dvd but watch it every single time it comes on tv. For awhile, it was on like, weekly. Obsessed.

Your top five. GO.

must see: the wackness

Monday, February 9th, 2009

This weekend I watched The Wackness. I’ve been wanting to see it since it was in theaters.

It’s 1994 in New York, Luke Shapiro deals drugs in the summer before leaving for college. He strikes up an unlikely friendship with his shrink who gives him sessions in exchange for weed. The music, the acting, everything is great.

Netflix it!

movie weekend

This weekend boyfriend and I seen two new movies. Okay well, one isn’t new but was new to me.

I loved Burned After Reading. Brad Pitt was really funny. Tilda Swinton kind of looks like an alien. Definitely go see this one though!

I had heard that Smart People was an iffy one. Everyone wasn’t sure if they liked it or not. I liked it a lot though. It was funny, interesting and well…smart.

What movies have you seen recently?

Are they Netflix worthy? I need to add some to boyfriend’s queue!

Kooza and The Dark Knight

Friday, July 25th, 2008

For my birthday in March, boyfriend’s parents gave me tickets for the Cirque du Soliel show, Kooza. Yesterday, the day finally rolled around for the show and since I was in San Francisco all last weekend, I didn’t get to see The Dark Knight. We decided to make whole day of it.

We hit up a 4:00 show of The Dark Knight at Webster Place. I know everyone and their mother has posted thoughts on it already so I’ll keep this brief. What the hell was up with Christian Bale’s Batman voice?! It was SO bad. Why couldn’t he talk normal? It made me burst into laughter a few times during the movie, I can’t even lie. Secondly, before I seen the movie, I figured all the Oscar hype for Heath Ledger was just because he had died. Honestly, he was amazing in this role. Creepy, maniacal and you couldn’t even tell it was Heath behind all that makeup. All in all, definitely lived up to the hype (minus Batman’s voice).

Right after the show, we headed up to the United Center for Cirque du Soliel. I was not expecting it to be in tents outside of the United Center, but it was. It was quite small but there were great views from anywhere you sat. The only bad thing was that they packed us in like sardines. The seats were so close together it was really uncomfortable. The show was great though. I am now convinced that these women do not have bones in their bodies because I was hurting FOR them. Then one of them did this thing where they were moving their legs around in circles over their head in like a reverse backbend. DUDE, it was some shit out of the Exorcist and had me cringing.

We are now trying to see about getting tickets for a Cirque show when we go back to Vegas in October because this was so great on a small scale, I can only imagine it on a larger one like in Las Vegas. I’m hoping I can score us tickets for Love at the Mirage. It was a great day. I had boyfriend all to myself and we had tons of fun.

Presto!

For those of you who haven’t seen Wall-E yet, you have obviously not seen this adorable short cartoon that was played before the film. I suggest you watch it right now!

ETA: Youtube took down the original video, but I’m awesome and have another link for you to see it: HERE

Sex and the City: what almost happened

Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008

Obviously there will be spoilers, don’t read if you haven’t see the movie. Duh.

Always eager to protect their fans, the cast of the “Sex and the City” movie and writer/director Michael Patrick King went to extraordinary lengths to keep much of the film’s plot a secret. Now that the movie has hit theaters, here are some interesting tidbits about what didn’t make it into the film, and more.

weekend of movies

Monday, May 5th, 2008

This weekend was something else. Seriously. So Friday as I mentioned before, my favorite Jenn and I went to go see Made of Honor.

We drove around some suburbs to the theatre and I think I barely missed ending up at crime scene number two. The movie was cute, predictable but cute. My company was better. We had yummy Portillo’s and some Icees.

Saturday didn’t go as planned due to World War III erupting in my household, that is another post though. I ended up getting the biggest most giant sundae ever though. It was ridiculous and good. I probably gained 3 pounds.

Finally Sunday, I was able to see the boyfriend and we decided a movie was in order. Iron Man, to be exact. I really liked it. A lot. Definitely go see it. Did you guys that seen it stay after the credits for the little extra? I did!

Then because William puts up with my girly whims, he let me watch the cast of Sex and The City on Oprah that I begged him to DVR for me Thursday and then followed that up with 27 Dresses that he bought me earlier in the week. What a good boyfriend.

Today I am at work. How was your weekend?

important ramblings

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

- I finally seen The Darjeeling Limited. I loved it. You should see it if you haven’t.

- Miley Cyrus is really annoying. Of course, people are going to get all worked up over a photo of her backless, covered with a sheet, a head of touseled hair and pouty lips. She’s 15 years old has millions of fans that are practically babies. I don’t care who shot it, they (Disney, Vanity Fair, her people, parents, etc.) had to have known it wouldn’t be well received  – artsy or not. I couldn’t careless honestly, but I’m just sick of seeing it as *BREAKING NEWS*! If by miracle you haven’t heard about this or seen the picture, Jenn has it up on her blog. What do you think?

- I’m going to Florida in a month and a half! Time to step up the dieting and exercise game. Seriously. I need to look hot for Mickey Mouse. Ew that sounds dirty.

- I slept horribly last night. I woke up and felt like I had just went to sleep. Then I get to work and the kids have colds. Awesome. I love those little germ magnets, but they better not get me sick.

- This weekend I get to see my favorite blogger BFF! We always have an awesome time when we go out. We are kind of ridiculous so look out Chicago.

- Final word on Bright Light, Big Ass? Not thrilled on it and had to kind of push myself through it. Loved Bitter is the New Black though. I definitely recommend the latter. I’m hoping her new book is more like Bitter. Next up is Eat Pray Love. Heard some mixed reviews so I had to check it out myself.

I think that is it. Pretty sure I will be taking a nap when the kids go down this afternoon. I’m exhausted.

Care to share your randomness?

Go for it.

random stuff for sunday

Sunday, March 2nd, 2008

Does anyone know if mailing gift cards require extra postage? I still need to get to the post office to mail the three gift cards to the winners from my contest because I fail at life. I just don’t know if it would be fine with a regular stamp or if it’s more. I’ve never mailed out one before. Help meee.

Also, does anyone have any tips on getting pups to stop nipping so much? Edie gets very excited and likes to chew, bite and nip. My hands are so scratched up from her sharp little teeth! I tell her No! but she is still a 10 week old puppy, so she doesn’t listen very well. I’m planning on signing her up for puppy classes in the next few weeks. My puppy is going to Kindergarten!

Tomorrow, I will be announcing another contest. I need some help with something and since you freaders are so creative and fabulous, I’m turning to you. Of course, you will be handsomely rewarded. With what? I’m still unsure, but I think think of something amazingly awesome.

It is motherfucking walk off! Please watch this video. If you love Tim Gunn as much as I do, you will love this. Christian is annoying as hell through most of it, but Tim makes up for it!

I am a big fan of lists. When I found out NaBloPoMo was going monthly starting with March and the theme was lists, I emailed Mrs. Kennedy and was like sign me up! So everyday in the month I will be adding a list to each entry. Now if people hate lists, hate me, hate what I write or don’t write, that’s fine…keep on scrolling in your reader until April. I’m just making it know that there will be lists, and plenty of them at that!

I suppose this whole entry could be considered a list of random things but I’m going to share another one anyway.

Movies I plan on watching today:
Oceans 11 (the original)
Paris Je T’aime (I already watched half!)
Gone Baby Gone

exciting tings!

Saturday, February 23rd, 2008

I’ve been a sucky blogger. I haven’t commented, read or written. I’m still on the verge of something exciting! No one knows but Jenn! (shh!) I’m very excited and hopefully, I can share the news later today! If not today, for sure tomorrow!

In other news,  I seen Charlie Barlett. Anton Yelchin, played Charlie, was great, in my opinion. His character was all over the place and he didn’t miss a beat. He was fantastic. Definitely something I’d recommend.
