kitchen decorating adventures

I’ve been living in my “new” place since November. Not so new though considering it’s June! I’ve been very slow about decorating, because I’m very picky about things. I’d rather live in a half empty apartment over an apartment full of random things just because I need them. For this reason, I went a good 3 months without a kitchen table and chairs – I don’t even think I had my coffee table either yet.  But my couch was stylish, even if not the most comfortable. I had an awesome modern book case and plenty of prints that I have been collecting throughout the years.

And now it’s June.

I’ve officially been in my place for seven months and my only “finished” room is my kitchen. By finished, I mean, mostly furnished with the details coming together.
But here’s the deal, I live in a vintage building. I have a one bedroom apartment with light wood floors, one outlet per room and a tiny stove that I can barely cook a frozen pizza in. The light is great and you really can’t beat the location, so I’ll suck it up and do what I can with it.
That’s what I’ve based my kitchen on. I bought all of these pieces and worked around it. It’s a little bit 60′s mod with the table and a tad mid-century with the chairs. I also have this Hello print, some chalkboard decals and a few of these adorable chalkboard canisters. There’s also a vintage 1950′s red step stool (similar to this one) in the corner and I’m looking for the perfect red-something that I can use as a table center piece.

As you can see, I love decorating, but moving not so much. When my lease is up in November, I will definitely do things a little different.

Any tips on how you move free of hassle and disaster? I’d love to hear some ideas!

Next time I’m in your neighborhood, I’m going to have to come up and see your place :)

I love that you call your building vintage. I think that’s a lovely way to put it.
