30 day shredding it

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

A few days, errr…. okay, FINE months ago, I picked up a copy of this 30 Day Shred nonsense.

Basically, it’s been sitting on top of my dvd player for way too long. So I figure if I write about doing it, I have to do it. Or I’m a big lying fakey McFakerson.

The size of my ass depends on each and every one of you.

(No pressure.)

You all are keeping my accountable whether you like it or not.

(Is it possible to cheat at The Shred? Would I see 30 Day Shrediness if I did it twice a day for two weeks?)

Let’s do this. Make me look fierce, Jillian. I want an ass like Gaga.

(I predict a post announcing my death from being Shredded tomorrow.)

pretty in plaid winner

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Congrats to the ever so classy Jessica of Classy in Philadelphia. You won a hardcover copy of Pretty in Plaid by Jen Lancaster!

I finished up Pretty in Plaid last week. It’s easily my second favorite book by Jen Lancaster. Bitter is the New Black will always be my favorite though.

Thanks to everyone for entering. It was great reading about your power wardrobe pieces.

Make sure you pick up your own copy of Pretty in Plaid and catch Jen when she comes to your city!

happenings

Monday, May 11th, 2009

I feel like I have a lot going on right now. But I don’t. But I kind of do… Yeah, I know. I’m confused. I feel like there is a whole lot of that happening lately.

Posting may be sparse lately. I’m working on moving hosts so let’s knock this out bullet style.

  • I want to learn how to do everything. There is seriously so much I don’t know. I want to learn it all.
  • I wish I could do my own design work and tech stuff so I don’t need to bother people for help. I know they are willing but I feel sometimes feel bothersome asking.
  • Job hunting. Resumes. Cover letters. Emails. Interviews. Cross your fingers something comes through?
  • The mom I nanny for is getting on my case about going back to school and tell me I should just do this and just do that. I don’t appreciate it. I know she is trying to help but I know what I need to do and what I should do. I don’t need someone else telling me.
  • A possible new project with an old friend. This could be a great thing for both of us so hopefully something comes from it.
  • Someone tell me how it is almost mid-May? Seriously.
  • Rachel Getting Married = fantastic movie. Netflix it. Redbox it. Download it. Whatever. Watch it.
  • Making an appointment to get Edie get me spayed makes me nervous which is why I have put it off this long. PAWS, a great organization here in Chicago, has a low cost spay and neuter clinic is where she will be going. Thank god, I only have to leave her for a day.
  • Two giveaways: Pretty in Plaid giveaway ends tonight so make sure you enter. On the Shops blog, Ashley of Joyful Star is giving away a custom blog header or a hobo bag. That one ends in a week.

moving on

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

Now that that nonsense is out of the way, let’s focus on what my Saturday morning consisted of:

She does this all the time. I feel bad for waking her up and moving her even though she puts my hand to sleep.

Now back to my Saturday Lifetime movie marathon. Yeah, you know it.

How’s your weekend so far? Any big plans?

things I am not interested in

Friday, May 8th, 2009
  • other people’s drama
  • people dragging me into other people’s drama
  • people who think they have me pegged when they don’t know shit about me
  • people who take the internet too seriously
  • people who feel the need to spread rumors and talk shit to get attention

I have enough to worry about and other people’s blog and personal drama is the last thing on my mind.

If anyone has something to say to or about me, feel free to get in touch with me and tell me yourself. Otherwise, keep my name and any implications about me out of your mouth.

That’s the only thing I will ever say on this subject because I really and truly don’t give a fuck.

(I guess I should make sure I don’t step in front of any buses, huh?)

lesson learned

Thursday, May 7th, 2009

Imagine my surprise when I get an @reply on Twitter yesterday that looks like this:

And it was true!

In the hours that followed, my internet world burst into flames. I burst into tears. Tons of emails went out. File restoration services had been looked into. Hosting and new domains had been purchased. Emails went unanswered. Oh and my internet wasn’t working so I couldn’t figure out what was going wrong. Then I cried some more.

It was an honest to goodness mess.

For way too many hours, I thought everything I had built up the past few years was gone forever. All posts, comments, memories. All of this visual experience I have to show when I try to tell people I know what I’m talking about when looking for a job. My proof. My writing. It was gone.

It’s not a good feeling.

A little while ago, everything fell back into place. For now at least. My blogs are back and you better believe I backed them up. I’ll be moving hosts to another with great support just in case something like this or any other situation arises.

The moral of this story is back up your sites and back them up often. The most recent back up I had was from late last year because I accidentally deleted the one I made a few weeks ago.

Go back everything up right now.

I’ll wait.

Did you do it?

Good.

Now I hope the weekend treats you well and you don’t have an internet crisis.

P.S. Can anyone help me move my blogs? My files are too big to import and I don’t know how to do it and I’m afraid I’ll break things.
P.P.S. I’m giving away a copy of Jen Lancaster‘s new book (which is hilarious), Pretty in Plaid. Go enter now!

giveaway: pretty in plaid by jen lancaster

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

Sometime last week I got an email asking if I would like to review a copy of Jen Lancaster’s (of Jennsylvania fame) new book, Pretty in Plaid. My response was something like, “Duh, of course.” Then I seen the trailer she made for the book and knew this was probably the best idea ever.

Then I thought about you guys and asked for a second copy to giveaway to my readers. I know many of you are fans of her other books, Bitter is the New Black, Bright Lights, Big Ass and Such a Pretty Fat so I figured it would be a pretty sweet giveaway! Bitter is the New Black is probably one of my favorite books because Jen is just so ridiculously hilarious. Plus, she has two really cute puppies. AND is from Chicago!

Pretty in Plaid is all about Jen’s life through clothing and how your clothing defines you as a person. I just dug into it but I will be sure to write about my thoughts once I wrap it up!

Catch Jen Lancaster on her book tour where she is encouraging everyone to show up in their fiercest 80s garb. See the dates here and make sure you say hi to me at the Chicago stop on May 28th!

So like I said, I’m going to be giving one of copy of Pretty in Plaid away. How do you win, you ask?

Do you feel like how you dress defines who you are? Do you have that staple status piece in your wardrobe that makes you feel just awesome when you rock it?

(Mine is my Marc by Marc Jacobs bag. I adore it! It’s gorgeous and buttery soft and goes with everything. Plus, duh, it’s Marc Jacobs.)

How to enter:

  • You must answer the above question in a comment.
  • For an extra entry: twitter about this giveaway and link to your tweet in the comments. (You can follow me on Twitter here.)
  • For another extra entry: post your own entry about this giveaway and link back to it in the comments here.
  • Do it by 11:59PM on Monday May 11th.
  • Winner will be announced Tuesday May 12th.

if i hear poker face one more time

Monday, May 4th, 2009

Don’t you hate when you love a song or album so much and then it just gets played to hell on the radio?

Then you change the station and it’s the same song on that station too?

To the point where you are like ready to rip your hair out again if you just hear the beginning of a song?

I mean, I love Lady Gaga. I’ve been all about her since October or whenever The Fame came out. It’s my go-to album in the car!

Yeah, some people might compare her to a busted Christina Aguilera but whatever Christina isn’t looking so hot herself these days.

Okay, maybe carrying around tea cup and wearing John Lennon-ish glasses is a little odd.

And yes, we all know she doesn’t wear pants often but if I had an ass like that I’d say fuck pants too.

(Whatever she is a fierce bitch so haters to the left.)

But seriously, if I hear Poker Face one more time, I will cut someone.

CUT

SOMEONE

.

Don’t ruin the rest of the album for me, guys. I know it’s bound to happen but still. Go play Flo Rida, Blame It on the Alcohol or some other reject song again because in a few months everyone will forget about those and be all about some new Lil Wayne joint that sucks just as much.

Just lay off the Gaga because your killing it.

And me.

(In case I die, Tia, you can have my blog.)

(but don’t play Poker Face on purpose so you can have it because I will come back and haunt you all)

the circus and britney should hire me

Friday, May 1st, 2009

Basically, I’m all sorts of in love with Britney Spears (pretty sure everyone knows that though). The show Wednesday just confirmed it more if that was possible.

I fought my way through all the strippers and skanks, teeny boppers and dudes who acted like they didn’t want to be there but secretly, inside, they were loving it to my seats which were on the top level but still great view. Put up with the Pussycat Dolls screeching about buttons and hating this part. Drank my pink lemonade vodka something or other. Watched some reject wanna be Cirque du Soliel performances during intermission. Dealt with Perez Hilton’s annoying ass on screen for the intro (HATE PEREZ).

Then finalllly sparks flew out, music started thumping and BritBrit decended from the ceiling heavens and all was right with the world.

First off, let’s get this out of the way. We all know Britney isn’t going to sing so the whole OMG WHY PAY $XXX FOR TICKETS JUST TO SEE HER LIPSYNC shit is pointless. You go there knowing it’s not going to happen so shut up.

I didn’t go to see Britney sing. I went to see a show.

She is a performer. An entertainer.

And you know what, it was awesome. She put on a great show. The costumes, the vibe, the stage, her dancers – everything. There was a lot off of Blackout which is a great album, better than Circus in my opinion. Of course, the classics like Toxic, Baby One More Time and Slave For You. Even a sexy as hell video of Sweet Dreams.

Sorry, no pictures. I forgot my camera and my iPhone camera was just not cooperating.

I would go see it in a second if I had the chance. Go catch the Circus if the tour comes your way. Seriously.

P.S. Britney, I think you need to hire me for your social media team. You’re a rockstar, I’m a rockstar. It’s meant to be.

Let’s make it happen!
