seriously? 2008 is over?

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Dude, this year flew by. I can’t believe it’s already over. I figured I needed to write some goals for 2009. I’m not going to say resolutions. I like goals better!

  • Travel somewhere new. In 2008, it was San Francisco for BlogHer. Where will 2009 lead me?
  • Finally lose the weight I’ve been wanting to get off. Stop talking and start doing.
  • No more nail biting.
  • Work hard to make this internship a success.
  • Be a better friend, daughter, girlfriend/whatever, sister.
  • Learn more about social media, personal branding and blogging – attend conferences, web seminars,  meet ups and network. Learn how I can take my hobbies and interests and sculpt it into a career. Learn, learn, learn.

I’ll be having dinner and hanging out with one of my bestest friends tonight to celebrate NYE. I won’t be getting a kiss at midnight (unless Jenn tries to sneak attack me) since the boy is djing but I’m perfectly content with my plans!

What are your plans for tonight? Goals for 2009?

Stay safe and Happy New Year!

the printed blog

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

As you all know, I’ve been super annoying about keeping my internship hush hush until  was able to. Well, now I can let the cat out of the bag. Or puppy since I like puppies better. The puppy is coming out of the bag!

I’m interning for a new media startup called The Printed Blog. It will be a twice daily printed publication with all our content being pulled from the internet…from blogs. We hope for everything to be user generated. You’re photos will be published, your writing, your music, your games, etc.

It’s all about you.

You can find out more about it on the blog I made for it. We’re still getting everything going and preparing for our launch next month and my next move will be to start signing up bloggers who’d like the opportunity to be published, more recognition from a broader audience and eventually part of our ad revenue. Seriously, I’m like the blogger fairy godmother. Maybe I should put that on my business cards? Jamie Lovely: Blogger Fairy Godmother. It has a nice ring to it, no?

Anyway, It’s a very cool idea that has some serious potential if it takes off! Fingers crossed!

What I need from you guys is to go check out the blog to find out more info, follow us on twitter, join our Facebook group. Help make me look good in front of the boss man! haha

But really, this is an awesome opportunity to get involved and be part of something great and completely new!

so that was christmas?

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Basically, I spent Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with my stomach revolting against my poor body. I didn’t go to either of my Grandmas’ houses. I didn’t partake in Christmas dinner. I did not eat tamales.

TAMALES, PEOPLE.

I did not eat them.

That is fucking huge. If you don’t know, tamales are the whole point of Christmas. Seriously.

My Christmas was a big fail. Well at least when it came to the whole family and togetherness shit that I wasn’t even up for as it was. What was not a fail though, were my gifts. You can’t go wrong with Wall-E, money and Britney Spears tickets.

Yup, I’m going to see Britney! The boy got me tickets for Christmas! Yay me!

Right now, I’m at the internship working on some stuff. I know I’ve been all hush hush and super secret about this but that’s all about to end. I’ll be unleashing my project (well part of it) into blog world and twitter later today or tomorrow.

Get excited!

How were your Holidays? Also, tell me how excited you are for my super awesome project. It’ll make the boss man happy to see some interest.

Or just lie and pretend your interested.

Cool?

Cool.

Note to self: try not to let hand fall off.

maybe I’ll steal a little french girl?

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Okay, maybe not.

I seen this video awhile ago and the boy reminded me about it a couple days ago so we dug it up again. It’s so freaking cute, it makes my ovaries hurt.

Watch it. It’s a little long (4ish minutes) but so worth it.

i can’t lie

I’m still not feeling the Christmas spirit.

The tree is up but no presents are really under it. No one is really on top of thier Christmas shopping this year. Usually, I am all over it but this year I’m slacking.

My family is still in shambles. My mother pretends to care but I think the extent of Christmas to her is wanting to know what she is getting as presents. No, seriously, in our last conversation, she asked “what are you getting me?” then said, “well Sundance has cheap earrings” when I responded I’m pretty strapped for cash this season so not to expect anything big. Maybe I should give her what she gave me for my birthday? A big fat nothing. And I guess she forgot last Christmas she acted like a total bitch and dropped the divorce bomb days after.

So yeah, the holidays are super festive this year.

(sarcasmsarcasmsarcasm)

Then there is the not knowing what is going on in with the boy. Who knows anymore. We’re happy though. Kinda? Just very confused.

Oh and I’m helping launch a huge project in less than a month for the internship. I’m working on a pitch that will hopefully wow bloggers. But really, how wierd is it being on the opposite end of pitches? I have to say, I’m not a fan of writing them. I’d much rather be recieving them.

And when I get like this, I eat. Stress, sad, mad – eat eat eat. Why I can’t I be one of those who just can’t look at food when they are upset instead of shoveling it all in my face?

There you have it. I’m confused, angry, stressed, fat, not feeling very Christmasy.

What else would I like for the holidays?

To lose thirty pounds, a vacation and most of all, some fucking clarity.

Christmas wishlist

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

I decided to take part in the 20SB December Blog Carnival. The theme was wish lists and one of the options was five items you would like, one for each sense and I’m all about a well rounded Christmas gifting experience so I figured I’d give it a go!

Taste:

Basically, I’d want to be able to eat these cookies all day, every day and not get fat. They are the best cookies I’ve ever had in my life and are about the size of a DVD. Snickers, walnuts and chocolate chip. Pretty much heaven in cookie form.

Smell:

The smell of a new handbag might be the most intoxicating scent in the world. I swear when I first got my Marc Jacobs bag, I could not stop smelling it. Trust me, go buy yourself a nice handbag and you’ll see. So to get that scent I would love a Miu Miu Bow Bag. I’ve been harping over this bag for over a year. I swear I will buy it one day.

Touch:

Edward Cullen to become a real person so I can do naughty things to him. What? Shut up, you know you wish that too. Whatever, I’ll settle for RPattz. He’s fucking hot.

Hear:

I want a Jets to Brazil reunion album. I worship the ground Blake Schwarzenbach walks on and would kill someone to getthem back together for another album. Okay, maybe not kill someone because that’s not very Christmas-y but I would love them forever and bake you cupcakes on demand.

Sight:

I really, really want to go to see Britney Spears when she comes to Chicago in April. I’m not even kidding, I’d probably freak out if I got tickets. I love her and this video is so good. Seriously, I love her.

What’s on your Christmas list? Tangible or intangible wishes welcome!

happy birthday puppy!

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

Today is Edie’s first birthday!

I wasn’t able to bring her home until the end of Feburary but today is when she was born. She was and still is by far the most adorable corgi you ever did see. Remember how tiny she was?

Edie is very bossy and independant. She likes things done on her time. No cuddles unless she feels like cuddling. Same for kisses. When you least expect it, you will pounced on and smothered with puppy love. Every time I walk down the stairs, she runs to the back door. She always wants to be outside even if she was just out. When I put on my shoes, pup can barely contain herself thinking she is going to go play. She runs around like a crazy face, tearing around our yard in circles and begging Winston to chase her only to repeatedly lap the little guy. Edie gives great hugs when I come home and right before I leave. She puts her paws up on my shoulders and gives me  snuggle.

For her birthday Edie got snow. My brother shoveled the driveway and made a big pile for her. She sticks her nose in, eats some and will be shivering but refuses to go inside because she loves snow that much. You can see her jumping around at my feet because she loves it when it kick the snow for her to chase. Silly puppy.

I’ve had a Blackberry Pearl for going on two years now. At first it was pretty cool then the iPhone came out and it became ‘old technology’. Okay, it’s not really old but I like to try to stay on top of my game. I mean, using the same phone for almost two years? That is damn near blasphemy!

Then there was the issue of my Blackberry Pearl being a piece of crap. The trackball never wanted to work, it would get stuck, the menu button never wanted to go to menu, dust would get stuck under the screen and the screen would eventually pop up. It was one thing after the other. THEN, there was the other issue of my being with Tmobile and the iPhone being exclusively on AT&T and costing 5 million dollars for an iPhone plan.  The boy got an 1st generation iPhone and unlocked it so I figured I’d do the same eventually. When rumors of the 3G came out, I figured I’d wait for that, buy one and crack that shit!

I was about to get me the newest iPhone!

Then Steve Jobs ruined it for me with all this “you have to have a contract to buy an iPhone” shit. Remember, I wrote him an angry letter expressing my displeasure that he wouldn’t help me cheat the system?

Well what do you think about them apples, Mr. Jobs?

It may have taken awhile but I got me an iPhone! Yeah, it’s a second generation and 8GB but it sure isn’t a stupid, busted BlackBerry Pearl.

I actually was going to take pictures of me and the iPhone running through a field of tulips in slow motion and then draw pink hearts all over it but Chicago weather isn’t being very agreeable. Instead you get me with my phone covering my face because it is too damn early to make myself look pretty and I refused to change out of comfy pants and a 3 year old Armor for Sleep hoodie when it is 11 degrees out (I totally just checked the temp on my iPhone!). At least the phone looks pretty, right?

Okay, now I need your help.

What are the must have iPhone apps? I need a fabulous Twitter app to feed my Twitter addiction too!

the one where I could not be anymore vague

Monday, December 15th, 2008

For my internship, I have a huge, gigantic, massive project with the potential to be amazing that I’m working on right now. I swear it will be awesome and soon I will be asking for your help with suggestions, feedback and using you all as a sounding board. Not only will you be helping me out but it can also be potentially amazing for you!

Yeah, if that wasn’t vague enough, I don’t know what is.

(But really, it will be great. Promise)

Goals for this week:
- water water water
- cook, don’t waste money on take out
- buy Edie a birthday present
- do some Christmas shopping
- make birthday plans for the boy
- work work work work
- try not to fall so behind on blogs
- try to stop being a crappy blog friend because I can’t keep up with my reader and emails
- work work work work work

How was your weekend? Anything fun planned for this week?
