IRL Jamie vs Blog Jamie

August 7th, 2008 at 12:04 pm . Posted in me me me .

If someone met me in person after reading my blog, what are some things they would be surprised about IRL Me, compared to Blog Me.

  • I don’t wear any pink. My clothing is mainly black, grey and white. The colors I wear are mainly like burgundies, purples, sometimes teals and blues but you get the idea. I think the only pink items I own and still wear are probably some of my little collection of Nikes. This blog lets my inner pink out!
  • My hair really is just as pretty as I say it is.
  • I’m really not that vain about my hair.
  • No wait, I AM. It’s the only thing I am like that about about so shut your face.
  • I really don’t like dogs.
  • HAH. Lied. You know I love them. How could I not love this face?

Okay, this may be the most ridiculous entry I have ever written. Obviously, there is not much different between Blog Jamie and IRL Jamie.

Your turn.

Anything different between Blog You and IRL You?

I’m pretty much the same. Only I’m fatter in real life. On the blog I’m a svelte goddess. In real life I have super chunky feet.

God, now my secret is going to get out. :(

Mmmm…my blog is wit-concentrate while in person I’m really not that “on” all the time? That’s probably it. I’d hate to meet someone and expect me to just bring the sarcasm until the end of the night.

That and I’m actually a woman.

I would have to say that while I’m just as funny in person as I am on my blog (when I’m funny, that is), in person it’s usually by accident whereas I’m purposely funny on my blog. That might be about it though.

I’m probably vainer in real life. I obsess about my weight and appearance a lot more than I care to post about. I’m much more open and direct in my blog, not so much in real life. Although I am a “tell it like it is” kind of person, but sometimes it’s hard for me to step up for myself when I have a face/person in front of me.

I don’t think there is much of a difference, but I haven’t really had to censor myself through my blog yet. I hope it never gets to that point. Sometimes I think people perceive me a lot differently when they are reading my blog. It’s hard to tell though.

I’m not quite as fun in real life as I seem on the blog. I actually spend most of my time working, and most of my blog time is spent talking about stuff I do on the weekends. But nobody wants to hear about work.

I think I’m far more stand-offish and intimidating IRL. On the blogosphere, I want to be everybody’s friend. In life outside of the blogosphere, people are afraid of me… which I don’t like. I’d like that to change.

But people call me downbeats in both worlds. So there’s a similarity for you. Not that you asked…

I find it so hard to believe that you don’t wear any pink!!!!! This blog has always been a lovely pink!

IRL, I’m not nearly as open as I am on my blog. I’m too damn worried about hurting other people’s feelings. Ashley of “Learning to be Me” says I have a lovable attitude, but I don’t let it out IRL as much. Go figure.

I can’t edit my real life mouth so I often wish I could take something back where as in my blog, I can put it in my drafts and think about it for awhile before putting it out there.

I think I’m more colorful in person. It doesn’t really come through with my layoutless (is that a word?) set up right now. I want a fun layout… I’m just really broke right now… and have zero graphic design skillz.

I’m a lot more anxious then I try to project myself to be. Also, I’m pretty shy with new people, but new blog friends I have no problem opening up to (I guess it’s easier for me to type then speak, which makes sense, since my voice HAS been made fun of from time to time)

And I won’t actively bring up my sex life as often, unless I’m really comfortable with the person I’m talking to.

If you read my blog then meet me you probably know more than you care to about me. To the point where you might feel like we had a one night stand you can’t fully recall and feel sort of uncomfortable.

And I am much shorter than I appear in my blog.

i break more hearts than i ever let on to through my blog. in the odd chance that the people’s hearts i’m breaking will find my blog and be even more crushed.

and i get to be a lot more open about my relationship on my blog than i am in real life.

other than that, i think i’m pretty on par.

I love blog you and IRL you so that’s my POV. Blog me is more materialistic and probably bitchy than real me. I’m actually pretty sweet and funny, and just as sarcastic in my real blog. I’m really not evil, contrary to blog-ular belief.

I’ve been doing this for a while, and I’ve met a lot of other bloggers IRL, so there are probably not as many differences between my personalities (blog and IRL) as when I started. But one thing that hasn’t (and probably won’t) change – I’m painfully shy IRL. To some people, it probably comes off as arrogance (or maybe even aloof-ness), but really, I just have a hard time meeting new people. Or talking to new people. I’m just not good at it.

I suppose that’s why I blog in the first place.

Aside from that, there aren’t many other differences between blog me and IRL me. Blog mikey is a total dork, and yeah, that’s pretty much me IRL too.

You should be vain about your hair. It’s really pretty, at least from the pictures I’ve seen.

I’m probably a lot more soft spoken than most people would suspect. But that’s only if I’m not super grumpy. Like I have been the past few days.

I’ll have to give this some thought but the major difference is that I tend to be quieter in real life than I appear on my blog. I’m prone to rants but only to close friends, and i don’t really tell people what I think of them.
